Raga Music Listings— March 2026
Lots of gigs in March… the year of the fire horse has truly started!
There are a few schools concerts happening at Wigmore Hall, featuring Jyotsna Srikanth, Baluji Shrivastav and number of other musicians, presented by Ranjana Ghatak, these are intended to introduce raga music to school kids, if you know any children that would benefit from learning about raga and tata, you should most certainly send them to these two wonderful recitals!
Prattyush Bannerjee the sarod player, is touring the UK, with gigs all over the country, including dates in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland; with a double-bill gig at the Southbank Centre with flautist, Shashank Subramanyam. Shanshank is also doing some double-bill gigs with the sitar master Shahid Parvez.
If you’ve never seen a harmonium solo recital, there is an opportunity to see one at the Nehru Centre, with musician Sadakat Aman Khan showcasing this instrument which is normally only seen as in an accompaniment role!
As always, explore the listings and make sure you attend a few concerts!

*note… I don’t make any money or anything from these listings, I don’t even get guestlist (although I wouldn’t say no to guestlist… gigging is expensive!), I’m just doing it, because people need to know where to see live music.
What did I see/hear/do in February?
Last month was my shortest newsletter, I think this my second shortest… I did manage to get out a few times, but was at home most of the month even though there were some brilliant gigs on and some exhibitions worth seeing. I’ll be out this month, so normal service will be resumed in the next newsletter! :)

Rowan Rheingans, Lucy Ward, Jacken Elswyth, Satnam Galsian and Rosie Faith at the Feminist Folk Club event at Cecil Sharp House
I went to see my cousin performing at the Feminist Folk Club at Cecil Sharp House (home of English Folk Dance and Song Society)(, alongside Rowan Rheingans, Jacken Elswyth and Rosie Faith, each performer was brilliant, the two sword technique of playing a viola and violin whilst also singing by Rowan was something to behold, Jacken performed on banjo’s that she’d hand-crafted themselves and Rosie sang some beautiful songs! Satnam performed a set of panjabi folk songs, interspersed with songs she’d written herself. It was great to see an audience entranced by songs in an entirely different language, but could the depth of emotion throughout each piece, with numerous audience members in tears! It was also nice to see how far Satnam has progressed since restarting music 7 or so years ago after not being allowed to perform for 10 years. She performed her new single ‘Dishonour’, which is raising money for victims of honour-based abuse. More details on that in the music section! Also, check out the programme of the EFDSS, there is a wealth of Folk music and dance throughout the year!

Sanjiv Ahluwalia at Jumbi
I went to see and hear my friend Sanjiv play records at Jumbi in Peckham. Jumbi is a wonderful restaurant/listening bar (bar with a listening system?), and there is not better excuse to hang out with friends, than food and great music, Sanjiv has a show on Voices Radio - This Side of Paradise, which should make time to listen to, it’s always a great combination of stories and music from Sanjiv’s vast archive! The Jumbi experience was him bringing the radio show to a captive audience and everything sounded excellent on that brilliant sound system they have in the venue! Hopefully this will become a regular session at Jumbi! 🙂 Also, don’t forget to buy Sanjiv’s Book, It’s Better to Travel

Sean E and DJShed74 at Dom Servini’s ‘Our Time Is Now’
Dom Servini has been running a regular event called ‘Our Time is Now’ since last year, a great sound system, with some excellent djs, food, a record stall, and a wonderful community spirit in the Student Union at Goldsmiths University. Sean E and DJShed74 from the Melomaniacs were on the bill, alongside Dom, Patrick Forgeand Robert Luis with Cyndi Hanson mcing. An all-day session, that starts at 12 and finishes around 9ish, it’s a brilliant event and definitely recommended, the lineups for the next three sessions have been revealed and all excellent, don’t miss out!
Radio Shows — February
Radio was fun last month, I changed it up a little on my Sister Midnight show with a lot more variety in the genres and bpms, and will probably do for the rest of the year with this show.
For February, Voices decided to match up it’s radio hosts to collaborate on shows throughout February. I was paired up with fellow Melomanic Karen Claire and presenter of Solarium, and we explored songs that we love, instead of just love songs! It was nice to delve into my music collection and free up from just playing south asian diaspora selections! Lots of chat, lots of music and lots of fun, listen back to both!
For Nāda Sonics, I raided my two boxes of raga music cds, that I haven’t listened to yet. I chose artists that I wasn't completely familiar with and albums I’d never listened to, there were some very nice tracks and an encouragement to go through purchases that haven’t been opened yet!
March Radio Dates
I’ll be doing lots of International Womens’s Day/ History Month specials this month, female musicians, producers, bands etc will all feature in the three shows this month. The Voices show will feature the brilliant Noni Mouse, dj and producer, she’s been involved in an called Folksoul - Vol.1
11°03°2026/14:00 — Sister Midnight FM: Lāykari
17°02°2026/11:00 — Voices Radio: The World is Sound w/ Noni Mouse
28°03°2026/08:00 — NTS: Nāda Sonics
My Gigs

After a trial session last year, Nāda Sonics in real life is back. If you’ve enjoyed listening to the show on NTS, this is a natural progression and offers audiences the chance to listen collectively, in a single room, without any distractions, a phone free, chat free zone, an oasis of listening for 90 minutes. Before the listening start, my friend Isaac B, a yoga teacher who’s teaching blends Vinyasa, Yin, YinYasa, breathwork, meditation, philosophy, sound, and music; will be conducting a 30 minute breathwork session, to calm the mind and body of all the attendees, getting everyone ready to receive the music. Sat on the floor, and only concentrating on the music, with a hot cup of chai, this is a really nice soothing period for ones mental health.
The theme for this months session will be celebrating female musicians, as it’s women’s history month and International Women’s Day on 8 March!
These sessions will happen every month, so definitely one to add to your calendars
I’ll be doing a 5 hour dj set; music, drinks, pizza, what more could you ask for?

In May, Dialled in will be celebrating their 5th Birthday, the first wave lineup was revealed last week! I’m super excited to be playing alongside so many brilliant djs and musicians! Don’t miss out and get your tickets early!
Suns of Yoga— Serta Valley, Portugal Retreat
Set in the serene Serta Valley of central Portugal, this retreat is a unique collaboration between Isaac B and Pritpal, bringing together embodied movement, conscious breath, and immersive sound.
Pre-Register your interest now and we’ll be making a full announcement of plans and pricing in a few days!
Music Recommendations
Some of music I’ve been listening to recently!
As mentioned earlier, Dishonour is a track being released by my cousin Satnam on International Women’s Day, all proceeds from sales go to Karma Nirvana, an organisation committed to helping victims of honour-based abuse. And I did the artwork, so you get some of my work too!
Sound of Women is a custom MOBILE RECORDING STUDIO inside a bus. The Sound of Women IP travels across India’s villages, forests, and foothills to capture the voices of women who have long preserved oral traditions and folk culture. Collaborations with artists and producers around the world have resulted in this 12 track album, in a variety of genres and is a wonderful listen.
Make sure you listen to my Voices show on the 17th, I’ll have Noni-Mouse in the studio talking about this project and the opening track that she produced!
Sam’s album came out last year, somehow I wasn’t able to listen to it, till last month. The result of 5 years of work this is a brilliant album, with some beautifully crafted tracks, meandering between ambient electronic music and full-on club music, it’s a very fun listen!
I think I heard a track from this album on show on Rinse, a short period later the album came out. It’s a satisfying mix of electronic bleeps and bloops, and a great album listen. Very good for working too! And check the back catalogue too, some really nice releases!
Thank you so much for reading and let me know if do you go to any gigs! :)
