*note… I don’t make any money or anything from these listings, I don’t even get guestlist (although I wouldn’t say no to guestlist… gigging is expensive!), I’m just doing it, because people need to know where to see live music.
What did I see/hear/do in January?
This is probably the shortest newsletter I’ve written in my short span of writing this newsletter… I spent most of January inside, I didn’t go to any gigs, exhibitions or dj anywhere; I spent most of the month watching the African Cup of Nations!
I used it as an excuse to go back to the illustration style I played around with about 10 years ago, a dynamic digital line-art and produced 4 pieces, a player from each of the teams featured in the final and 3rd place play-off! Check out the other 3 pieces on my instagram feed.
I’ve been playing around with a few other illustration styles as I try to reclaim my instagram feed, to be more about illustration, graphic design work and other creative endeavors. I’m going to start adding designs to my online shop to sell more designs, please check out my shop and get a t-shirt or two. I think I’ll be adding some prints too, so please support and get something, like this sweatshirt with a beautiful tabla design, if I do say so myself 😉 Also available as a t-shirt!
I’ve also been planning ‘Nāda Sonics—IRL: Listening Session’ for 2026, the first session should go live in March, so I’ll have ticket details in the next newsletter.
And then the big one…
Gearing up for the yoga retreat that I’m collaborating on with my friend Isaac in the middle of Portugal, bringing together numerous thread we’ve worked on last year, this will be the first of something I think could be a wonderful space to relax and reinvigorate your mind and body! Pre-Register your interest now and we’ll be making a full announcement of plans and pricing later this month!
Radio Shows — January
It was quite a relaxed radio schedule in January, I only did my Voices and NTS shows. The World is Sound was a nice genre fluid exploration of new and old music coming out of the South Asian diaspora!
January’s Nāda Sonics was an exploration
February Radio Dates
Lots of radio in February, I’m back on Sister Midnight FM, I’m testing Lāykari as the show name… it’s a word used in raga music to describe rhythmic improvisation.
I’ll be celebrating 4 years on Voices Radio, Voices are doing a special February theme, and matching different show hosts to collaborate on each others shows, so I’ll be collaborating with the brilliant Karen Claire, she has a show called Solarium that goes out on a Friday and plays lots of bruk and other similar vibes.
Not sure what the theme is going to be on Nāda Sonics this month, so check my socials for that nearer the time! :)
11°02°2026/14:00 — Sister Midnight FM: Lāykari
17°02°2026/11:00 — Voices Radio: The World is Solarium
20°02°2026/11:00 — Voices Radio: Solarium
28°02°2026/08:00 — NTS: Nāda Sonics
My Gigs
I don’t have anything booked in for February.
Music Recommendations
We’re already getting some really nice music in 2026 and we’re only a month in.
C4ge dropped Jungle Drum & Bass Mixtape Vol1 with Ilaiyaraaja at the end of January, combining the genium of Ilaiyaraaja with dnb vibes. What’s not to like? Poongaatru a track that has a solid hip-hop remix that I’ve played out a lot, now has a dnb remix… which I will definitely will play out this year!
Shackleton has been steadily releasing numerous musical projects for a quite a few years now, but this album sees him back on a Skull Disco - esque vibe. Very percussive, lots of bass, and textures galore, it’s been on repeat since it came out last week!
Lime Tikka by Baalti, Lapgan and Excise Dept all collaborate on this project; the video is directed by Excise Dept and looks brilliant, it’s 8m40s long, so is a lot more ambitious than a normal video, the story about a girl questioning why she was named ‘satellite’ drives the narrative of the video with a beautifully crafted tune from Baalti and Lapgan!
Thank you for reaching the end! :)
